About the data

Source of the data

All figures come from the statistical databank of the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova (NBS) (statbank.statistica.md), database “40 Statistica economică” (economic statistics). The data are taken in Romanian, the language of the source. Table titles, dimension names, category labels and units are shown in the official English labels of the NBS.

Maps

District boundaries and locality points for the maps come from NBS GeoStatistics (geo.statistica.md), license CC BY 4.0.

License

NBS data are open and are used under the CC BY 4.0 license. Every page names the source and the license. The NBS terms of use are available on the NBS website.

What was done here

  • Taken unchanged: values, names of tables and categories, units of measurement.
  • Calculated by us: only the change against the same period of the previous year, in percent (in percentage points for indices). Such figures are marked “own calculations based on NBS data”.
  • Organization: cumulative periods (for example, January–June) are not mixed with separate quarters or months. Zeros at the end of a series are periods not yet published and are not shown.

Period covered

The full history of each table in the source, up to 47 years. Charts and tables show the last 10 years by default; the “All history” switch shows the whole period.

Scope

  • 14 sections, 289 tables.
  • 1,490,420 values in tables.
  • Discontinued series (the archive) are not included.

Updates

Once a week. New periods published by the NBS appear automatically. The figures on the pages are recalculated at every update.

Independent visualization

The figures are the official data of the NBS; the site only presents them as charts, tables and filters. The project is not affiliated with the National Bureau of Statistics and does not use its logo. The names of tables, categories and units are the official English labels of the NBS; the texts of the interface are the site's own.
